Dr. Laurie M. Scherer
Who is Laurie?
Laurie M. Scherer, PsyD, MA, MS (she / her / hers), also known as the “Queen of Feelings,” is a licensed psychologist, educator, performer and visual artist based in New York City. In her work, Dr. Laurie is known for seamlessly weaving together the art and science of healing. Her practices promote holistic well-being by integrating the body, mind and spirit. Her passion for nurturing the social-emotional growth of children and adolescents has allowed her the privilege of working with special needs and at-risk youth in various outpatient, community and school settings. She holds a doctoral degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University, a Masters in Psychopathology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and is trained in Dance/Movement Therapy from the Harkness Dance Center at 92Y. She possesses a unique background which spans special education, neuropsychological assessment, dance/movement, yoga and theater, as well as mindfulness research and practice. Dr. Laurie is also the Head Coach for the Latin and Ballroom Dance Club at NYU. In her spare time, Dr. Laurie can be found venturing to the edges of the city to explore historical nooks and cultural gems. Dr. Laurie has been told that if Valentine's Day was a person, it would be her.
