Who is Sam?
Sam Zimmer (she/hers) @samzmr is an educator, nature nerd, and lover of creative expression. She is a founding member of the Glitter Goddess Collective. Sam has enjoyed working with kids of all ages in classrooms and non-traditional settings, especially outside! Her passions include facilitating authentic, hands-on learning experiences, climate advocacy and environmental stewardship, and increasing access to/diversifying the great outdoors. This native New Yorker is a both a city and country creature whose heart stretches from the pulse of Providence block parties to the white noise of water streaming down middle-of-nowhere mountains. Whenever she can, Sam seeks thrills, calm, and liberation through hiking & camping, gardening, cooking, making art with recycled materials, and playing music with others.
Sam has a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Fordham University and a dual MA in Childhood Special and General Education from Bank Street College of Education. Her inner fire stays lit with the help of others’ inspiring stories seeking and speaking their truth, people (especially femmes) of all ages lifting each other up and encouraging one another’s badassery, and everyday people’s random acts of kindness.
Sam is currently the Education Programs Director at the Haus of Glitter Performance Lab's Liberation Garden.
